BMX is divided into the following disciplines race, freestyle, dirt and flatland, depending on the bikes intended use, frames are commonly made from either high-tensile or 4130 chromoly steel with aluminium primarily used on race bikes for lightweight and response. BMX bikes remain popular due to their durability, ease of maintenance, availability of skate-parks, clubs and sporting venues.
