Product Description
With the complete frame weight of 1.860 grams (size 18" 460mm incl rear-shock), Merida just reached the silver-medal among the world's lightest XC suspension frames.
Regarding the performance, Merida already gained gold: no other XC suspension frame on earth below 2kg weight offers a similar frame-stiffness and riding performance!
CARBON MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY:
Merida used the best manufacturing processes for different areas to arrive at superlative results:
- Structural Element
- Remote Lockout
- Double Chamber Technology
- Carbon Drop-Out
- Carbon Rocker-Link
- Egg Shape
INTERNAL VALUES:
Double Chamber Technology: An integrated reinforcing rib is used to seperate highly stressed carbon-tubes into 2 indiviual chambersl; bending strength and hit-resistance are dramatically improved.
Structural Element: Carbon-frame, which is made from compact dimensioned carbon frame-segments. The bonding of these elements is made according to the specific stress lsating at the different areas, either by internaljoints or tube-to-tube.
Remote Lockout: Device to lock the suspension (fork and /or rear-shock) by switching a cable actuated lever, which is mounted on the handlebar.
Fork Travel Handlebar: Indication of the maximum fork-travel for bikes with a suspension fork.
Nano Matrix Carbon - NANO - particles reinforce the epoxy-based matrix structure - for up to 40% improved hit-resitance.
Egg-Shaped Headtube- Egg-shaped head-tube with semi integrated bearings and larger dimensions at the tube's centre - for optimum head-tube stiffness.
IMPRESSIVE APPEARANCE:
Intelligent Form: The design of the Ninety-Six acts consistently in accordance with the design-fundamental "Form Follows Function". For example, the bottom bracket area is supported by the full width of down-tube. The plane form in the steering head area has the same intention: to share the strengths equally and to avoid unwanted distortions. Functional design is also beautiful at the same time- with clean lines and striking forms.
Maximum Rigidity: The small connecting bridge in-between the seat-stays provides a vast improvement of the rigidity of the complete rear-frame.
Minimum Weight: The rocker-link completely made of carbon is not onlly visually a highlight- it saves precious weight. It is 36 grams less in comparison to a completely minimised aluminium link of equal dimensions.
