Bells & Horns
Bicycle bells are designed to alert other road or cycleway users as well as pedestrians of your presence, bells are typically mechanically engaged by the cyclists by a thumb movement for most common bell types. In the case of bicycle horns these are activated by use of the cyclists thumb and index fingers squeasing a rubber bulb or in the case of electronic air-actuated horns by the pressing of a button. Horns are significantly louder than bells.
