Levers & Calipers

Linear-pull brakes are commonly referred to as v-brakes, mounted on the seat stay and fork bosses, long arms provide leverage, when the brake lever is applied the cable draws the two brake arms together engaging the brake pads with the rim. Mostly used on mountain and hybrid bikes, v-brake stopping power can vary dependent on the quality of the brake arm material, the brake pads and the rim's braking surface.
